Casa Sofi Oaxaca – A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Oaxaca City We recently stayed at Casa Sofi Oaxaca, an Airbnb located in a beautifully preserved historic building in the heart of Oaxaca City. Although the exterior blends quietly into the surrounding street due to preservation regulations, stepping inside reveals a stunning transformation that seamlessly blends old-world charm with modern comfort. The property has five individually rented rooms, along with a communal kitchen and comfortable shared sitting areas. Each room has been thoughtfully renovated—spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully appointed—while still showcasing historic architectural features that give the place its unique character. Our host, Gerardo, was exceptional from the moment we arrived. He greeted us warmly, shared a bit of the building’s history, and even welcomed us with a traditional Mezcal toast before showing us to our room. Throughout our stay, he acted almost like our own personal concierge—helping us book taxis, recommending wonderful restaurants, and suggesting places to explore in the city. We also had the pleasure of meeting his wife, who was just as gracious and inviting. The location is unbeatable: right in the center of town, within easy walking distance of countless attractions, shops, and some incredible dining options—even several great spots right on the same block. Casa Sofi is clearly a labor of love for its owners, and it shows in every detail—from the thoughtful renovations to the attentive hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay here again.

Really lovely place to stay for a few days in Oaxaca city. Location is excellent, close to the action but still felt quiet. Room was spacious and well decorated. Only piece of feedback is that the water pressure from the shower was very weak (although I understand there is a water issue generally in the city) and the drain was slow so the water built up in the shower area. I would 100% stay again.

I really enjoyed my stay at Casa Sofi. The room was nicely fitted out, and it was great to have the option of the nice shared spaces, including a full kitchen. The place was really well located too, so you could easily use it as a base to walk around the whole centre. Gerardo was super helpful too! They helped me out with recommendations for things to do and places to eat. In addition he helped me out with taxis which was I was very grateful for. I've already decided next time I go back to Oaxaca I don't need to look for accommodation, I'm just going back there.

Perfectly situated within walking distance of everything we needed, this place truly felt like home. We’re already planning our return, a stay that left us with beautiful memories of comfort and connection.

Casa Sofi is a very clean and modern hotel very close to the center of Oaxaca. We had an amazing visit, and our host did everything he could to make sure that our trip was perfect. We would definitely return.

Beautiful little hotel with only a few rooms in the center of Oaxaca! The rooms are beautiful, stylish and well equiped. It's calm in the room and the cleaning service is amazing. The host was super friendly and explained all details about the accommodation. there is a shared kitchen and a shared living area that can be used. Filtered drinking water is available as well.

Casa Sofi Oaxaca is an absolute gem! We were warmly attended to immediately, even early in the morning, which made us feel truly cared for from the very start. The property is beautiful, with thoughtful design that combines style and comfort. And the best part — it is super quiet, which feels like a miracle in the heart of Oaxaca. Everything about our stay was simply phenomenal.

What a wonderful place to stay and explore Oaxaca. Gerardo is a fantastic and thoughtful host who put a lot of love into the design of the house. The room was spacious with a high ceiling, very comfortable and incredibly clean. The place is exceptionally quiet due to the rooms being in the back section of the house.
